Co-Sourcing
Hengtian embraces the dynamics of an ever changing business landscape through a unique collaboration model called co-sourcing. Focusing more on project management and utility of the final product, co-sourcing depends on the mutual trust and understanding between client and provider to be able to adapt to changing business needs and develop the most efficient and profitable deliverables possible. By using a dual-shore model of having developers and project leaders collaborating both on and off-site, co-sourcing allows for highly customized and adaptable products that can meet the ever-changing needs of the client. Hengtian has pioneered its unique model in its relationship with State Street, which has been documented and praised by groups such as Gartner and the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP).
Communication
Communication is critical for success in global collaborative software development. Many kinds of approaches are provided between Hengtian and customers to achieve efficient communication, including formal status reports, teleconferences, video-conferences, emails, instant messaging, and access to web-based document libraries and problem tracking. Regular onsite visits also frequently occur to strengthen communication through face-to-face interaction.
Project Management
As a global project team, effective organizations and roles are established on both sides for global project management on the executive oversight level, project management level, and project execution level. Routine activities include requirement management, resource management, knowledge management, project planning, risk management, issue tracking, change management, and status reporting.
Quality Assurance
An independent software quality assurance department has been established to ensure that SQA plans and software processes have been effectively established and executed in applicable projects to ensure the highest quality of delivered software products to the customers.
Governance
Project manager office (PMO) in Hengtian is responsible for governance work on project accountability and health through management standardization using formal processes, tools, and templates. It will also perform communication and coordination among projects and senior management through regular reporting.
Onsite Support
It is very important for Hengtian to provide onsite support to the customers’ side for global collaborative software development. In addition to daily communication and regular meetings, on-site engineers play essential roles in strengthening project communication with counterparties. They attend domain knowledge training at customer sites, oversee knowledge transfer to Hengtian project teams, and provide strong and effective on-site technical and problem solving support.
